Every day, in California and across the nation, there are thousands of ongoing construction projects that range in scope from very simple to quite complex. There is always a certain amount of risk to those involved in this line of work, though employers are obligated to take every reasonable precaution to ensure the safety of their employees. Construction workers' accidents continue to occur, however, often resulting in serious injuries or fatalities on the job.
At approximately 10 a.m. on a recent Tuesday, two workers were involved in a serious accident on a construction site in Hollywood. Co-workers acted as first responders and were able to render some aid before fire fighters and other rescuers arrived at the scene. Both men suffered serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for emergency care.
Apparently, the men were working on a project that involved an enormous wall made of wood. The estimated half-ton wall collapsed and fell on top of the two men. Their colleagues were somehow able to lift the wall and fortified it before fire fighters got there.
Many times, the exact causes of California construction workers' accidents can only be determined after extensive investigations. Injured workers are able to file workers' compensation claims to collect benefits that help pay medical bills and replace lost wages. A workers' compensation attorney can also help a recovering injured worker determine whether there are grounds for filing a legal claim in civil court apart from any benefits claim filed through an employer.
